Kannada movie "DIA" by KS Ashoka is something pure and fresh for sure. A 100% romantic movie with absolutely NO SONGS and NO FIGHTS at all. Probably this makes it closer to reality. A casual theme with a different kind of narrative. The excellent performances of the lead actors Khushi Ravi and Pruthvi Ambaar deserves a mentioning. It seems like the director has deliberately avoided song sequences from the film though it includes many instances where songs could have easily inserted. Kudos to this brave attempt. However, Ajaneesh Lokanath had rendered a brilliant BGM after Ulidavaru Kandanthe and Avane Sriman Narayana.
'DIA' is a romantic love story that stays close to one's heart, where love, care, friendship and a 'mother-son relationship' are being told without any gimmicks. The story takes the perspective of the heroine and travels through her entangled minds. The characters don't have any heroic/larger than life image at all. They are just ordinary people, with ordinary minds with ulterior insecurities. Glad to watch such simple, cute and experimental stuffs from the Kannada industry.
